Thought for the Day/Week

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY/WEEK:

"In my view, the Christian religion is most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government ought to be instructed...No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people."

~Noah Webster- preface to 1828 Dictionary~

Tuesday, we had the privilege of helping Brent and Marci Entz prepare and clean their new home before they move in this weekend. God truly blessed them with a lovely country home. Hannah lends a helping....hand? We all pitched in to clean what appeared to already be a "spotless" house! Charity helped unpack some dishes into the pantry. vacuuming out the closets The girls hauled several bins of clothes from the garage to the basement.Afterwards, the kids played out in the prairie grass...hide and seek.

Once the cleaning was done, Marci's mom invited us all to a delicious dinner. She's a marvelous cook! For dessert, Marci tells me we had something called "pumpkin yummy"!...and it was.

Brent and Marci, Lord bless you in your new home.

Take Me Out To The Ballgame

Last Saturday evening, the Loewen's offered us, Floras and Gerlachs "sky box" seats for the football game between Hutchinson and Fort Scott. It was a bit chilly, but we managed to find a seat in the stands (for atmosphere), then go back and forth into the skybox to get warm (and have snacks). Candy bars, popcorn and pop!!!
Karla and Jeff with Jacob, his wife Amy Ann, and their daughter Chloe. The game was very exciting.
Daniel and Amanda sure enjoyed it!

Bluegrass Hymns for Church anniversary

The Swiss Church in Whitewater celebrated their 125th anniversary this past weekend, and asked the local churches to participate in the program by providing dinner music. Brent and Marci Entz were asked to play representing our church (Grace Baptist), and invited Samuel, Hannah and Sarah to join them playing bluegrass hymns.Samuel played the guitar,
Hannah was on mandolin
and Sarah fiddled, along with Desiree.
Brent and Marci, on banjo and bass
Many gathered around to enjoy the meal that Swiss provided in their newly constructed facility.

A Sampling of the music:

Meanwhile-outside, the church provided hay rides...
and horseback rides for the children.
Charity really enjoyed both.

More bathroom progress

Chris is still diligently working on the bathroom...as much as his spare time will permit!
This last couple of weeks, he has installed and stained the cabinetry, (which is unfinished), the mirror, light fixture, towel bars and hooks by the shower. He also put a locking doorknob on the door, for which our children are MOST grateful! We are getting closer to completion!
