Thought for the Day/Week

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY/WEEK:

"In my view, the Christian religion is most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government ought to be instructed...No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people."

~Noah Webster- preface to 1828 Dictionary~

THE KANSAS STATE FAIR- A day trip with the Loewens

"It's dollars to doughnuts that our state fair is the best state fair in our state!" (profound words from a song I've heard.)
This year, we actually attended the state fair instead of just talking about it. It didn't hurt that Samuel had to meet with Dr. John Loewen to consult about knee surgery...which gave us an excuse to drive to Hutchinson.
The Loewen family had us come for lunch before we ventured out to the fair grounds.
We took the tram ride, mostly because the Loewen's grandpa was driving the tractor.
riding to the front gate
After consulting, we decided to see...EVERYTHING!
Diane Loewen- What shall we do with her now that we caught her? Branding?
Samuel and Tyler
Chris found BIG TOOLS!
a construction crew
I don't know what Daniel and Samuel see in this??
looking at goodies
Samuel is trying his hand at farming cattle.
So is Charity
Sarah and Nicole at the "butter sculpture"
Heather found a beautiful fur!
Hannah and Sarah with...Wilbur?
A "cheesy" pose
At the horse arena
Watching the "cattle roundup event"
The fish aquarium
Charity feeding the...uh...the...whatever it is.
Samuel, are you trying to get a camel through the eye of a needle?
smile girls!
a bad hair day!
The poultry house
The midway
Dinner time
We had BBQ
Quilts
Guys, why aren't you looking at the quilts?
Making our way back to the front of the fair grounds.
But first...Taffy!
The effects of the taffy hit Samuel first!
It was a warm day, but filled with a variety of new sights, and fellowship with friends.
Thanks Loewens for showing us around.
