Thought for the Day/Week

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY/WEEK:

"In my view, the Christian religion is most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government ought to be instructed...No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people."

~Noah Webster- preface to 1828 Dictionary~

Program in Bel Aire

On Monday, December 7th, the Gerlachs, Floras and Chaneys played dinner music and a program for the Bel Aire Senior Center's Christmas banquet. The decorations were festive, which provided a joyful atmosphere for the occasion. No this isn't Ebinezer Scrooge...it is Daniel wondering when the Gerlachs will arrive! (ha ha) Those playing the dinner music were able to go through the buffet line early... ...and enjoy a wonderful meal of smoked turkey and fried chicken.
Waiting for the music to start.
The girls played a variety of Christmas music during the meal.

The girls had worked on music with different combinations of players.
At one point, Krista Flora played a 2nd harp. Click play to hear a clip of "Jingle Bells" with a string quartet and piano (Sarah)

I thought this picture was especially good of Amanda and her harp. I suspect it may be framed and on Daniel's desk soon.
A "brother-sister" shot
The girls waiting to begin the program click to hear a clip of the song "How Should A King Come" which was done as part of the 40 minute program.

This is a clip of the string piece "The Glory of Christmas". This group has 3 violins, 2 violas, 2 cellos, percussion and piano.

After the program, we all went back to our house to finish off the pan of cinnamon rolls that we had taken to the dinner...but by the time I got home, I found an empty pan sitting on the coffee table! I guess playing music makes people hungry???

It was an enjoyable evening of music and ministry.
