Thought for the Day/Week

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY/WEEK:

"In my view, the Christian religion is most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government ought to be instructed...No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people."

~Noah Webster- preface to 1828 Dictionary~

Mom's Birthday

Mom's birthday has become the traditional night to set up the Christmas tree. With the number of ornaments that she has accumulated through the years, that is no small task!

This year, all of the kids, in-laws and grandkids were in attendance!

Ethan was very helpful with the ornaments.
"What is it that makes this bell ring?" Esther enjoying the "pretties"... ...and putting them on the tree. We took family shots in front of the tree.
Dan, Rebecca, Esther (and baby Ruthie-due January 9th)
Dave, Rachel, Ethan and Jonathan Daniel, Samuel, Hannah, Sarah, Charity
Mom and Dad
The tree was lit up and filled once again with many years of memories and hand-made ornaments. Each year brings new events to celebrate.
This year, we went to Bradley Fair to walk around a few of the shops.

Ethan got "the bird's eye view".

We went into a few of the shops...and were astonished at the prices!

Esther had it easy.

It was a very cold night, as icycles hung from the fountain, and the pennies were frozen under a sheet of ice.

The Plaza tree was absolutely beautiful!...
...so we gathered around it for a family photo.
Afterwards, we checked out the "Barnes and Nobel" bookstore coffee shop.
Mom enjoyed her time with the family.
The following evening, the birthday celebration continued with the traditional ladies night out. Karla Flora, Shari Gerlach and mom went to Red Lobster for dinner. The restaurant was cold, so they went to a coffee shop...

...and spent the evening visiting over coffee/tea.

As I grow another year older, I rejoice to see God's continued work in my life (...ok, so sometimes I'm not rejoicing) He continues to show his love to me by molding me and shaping me into His image day by day. But through the affliction, as well as the blessings, He is faithful. May God be glorified.
