JONATHAN SETH BUSENITZ, BORN AT 3:20 A.M. NOVEMBER 9TH, 2009.

We have just returned from the hospital. Mama and baby are both doing very well. Thanks to all of you who have prayed. We are rejoicing in the goodness of our God.

Jonathan Seth Busenitz weighed in at a whopping 7 lbs. 4 oz. He has dark hair, and a sweet disposition.

Welcome, little Jonathan, to the family.

Just a note:

Jonathan was the name of Dave's uncle, who was killed in a farming accident a few years ago.

As we all are aware, God's timing is always perfect. November 9th, little Jonathan's birthday, was also Uncle Jonathan's birthday.

Sarah becomes a teenager

The big day for Sarah had finally arrived...she turned 13!
We celebrated at El Dorado lake this year. We loaded up the kids and
were joined by a couple of other families.

The first item on the agenda was a hike. It was a lovely time of year to hike on the trails, and the temperature was perfect!

I guess there must've been a detour on the trail somewhere! ;-)

Getting out of the tree was half the fun!

Some didn't WANT to get out of the tree! "Hey, Samuel, the hike is DOWN HERE"!

At last, Samuel gets out of the tree, but not without expending as much energy as possible!

Sarah enjoyed taking pictures of the fall flowers.

It was a lovely trail...

So lovely that Sara got a little "choked up".

The fall foliage was beautiful! We sure enjoyed the scenery...

"Oh yes, the scenery is beautiful!!! Nature trail? What trail?"

The happy couple gets another opportunity for a photo together.

Once we reached the bridge over the creek, the hedgeapples began to fly!

Mr. Gerlach got a little "caught up" in the moment!

We were able to see many interesting trees, plants and wildlife. Some were able to follow and identify animal tracks.

I guess some guys experience nature through taste instead of sight, sound, touch and smell!

After the trail, we climbed the dike up to El Dorado lake.

It appears that some had more trouble getting up the hill than others.

Samuel again must find a way to conquer each new obsticle.

Coming down the hill was much easier than going up, although a bit bumpy!

Afterwards, the guys played a vigorous game of football. (The older men were not moving very fast the next day.)

We then had a "fried chicken" picnic lunch at one of the park's picnic shelters.

We returned home to "mint ice cream cake", a rousing chorus of "Happy Birthday", and a "big screen version of the old horse movie, "My Friend Flicka".

The cake was a hit...as was the day.

The following evening, Dan and Rebecca, Dave and Rachel, and the babies joined us for Sarah's favorite dinner and the movie "Son of Flicka". (The girls aren't much for a lot of physical activity at this time. ;-)

As always, this is the highlight of the weekend, getting to be with the girls' families, and those sweet babies!

Fall Dogs

Hannah has been taking a bunch of fall pictures of the dogs.

We are hoping for a litter of puppies from Dixie and Banjo sometime in the next few months.

Banjo has really been putting on a lot of coat lately. He is such a beautiful dog!

If you knew him, you would know that he's such a "Banjo". ;-)

Emmi is still our "little puppy", but she is 6 months old now!

She's just starting to thicken out. She will be a pretty girl when she's full grown.
(...not that she isn't pretty already.)

Dan, Rebecca, Esther, Ruth and James Busenitz

Dan farms and raises cattle on the farm they purchased this year, and he and Rebecca are actively involved in music ministry in their church. Dan plays the banjo and bass, and enjoys hunting, softball, singing, and conducting orchestras and choirs. Rebecca composes Christian music, and teaches lessons in volin, viola and piano. She enjoys cooking, sewing and caring for the home and family. She and Dan also have recently started a home-based business with the "Herbalife" company. Esther's job is to expand her vocabulary and take care of little Ruthy and James; little Ruthy's job is to be cute, and excited about everything that she sees, both of which she has mastered! James is the spitting image of his father, and is as sweet as he can be.

Dave, Rachel, Ethan, and Jonathan Busenitz

Dave farms and raises cattle with his father, as well as farming, and is a skilled woodworker and guitarist. Rachel, in addition to caring for the home and children, enjoys crochet, quilting, scrapbooking and music. Little Ethan stays busy keeping them both hopping. Little Jonathan Seth is growing, and has a contagious smile and such a sweet disposition. Rachel miscarried a baby last fall, who they named Jamie. However, the Lord has seen fit to bless them once more, with a little girl due on December 3rd, her grandmother's birthday.

Daniel Chaney and Amanda Gerlach

Daniel, after meeting with Amanda's father for 2 months, was finally granted permission to begin courtship with the girl of his dreams on July 1, 2009. Daniel is a Senior at Wichita State University majoring in Accounting and finance, with a minor in economics. Daniel enjoys courting Amanda...but much to his dismay, there are other things that he must do. Therefore, he also works with Samuel on their lawn business. Daniel was offered and accepted a position that will start in January with Kennedy and Coe Accounting Firm. He plays the cello, banjo, classical guitar and sings, and is trying his hand at choral conducting, like his grandfather. Amanda is an angel, and if you doubt me, you should hear her play the harp! She enjoys scrapbooking, cooking for Daniel, and courtship night. She is very creative and has a real flair for the artistic. Daniel and Amanda are now engaged, and planning an August 6th wedding.

Hannah Chaney

Hannah is a senior in high school this year. She enjoys playing the violin and fiddle, piano, and mandolin. She teaches 3 violin and piano lessons each week. She is also in the first violin section of the Youth Symphony this year. She enjoys her time at home playing with and training her and Samuel's dogs. She also recently obtained 2 horses, which she trains and rides often. She began working at a local stables this summer, helping to teach young riders, choring, and training the lesson horses. Her other interests include sports, photography, outdoor activities, teasing her siblings, and family/friend get-togethers.
